CoSIDA Release

SPRINGFIELD – Missouri State swimmer Sydney Zupan has earned Google Cloud First Team Academic All-America At-Large honors, as announced Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Zupan is the first student-athlete in swimming and diving program history to earn first team recognition and is the second to earn Academic All-America status.

The Wildwood, Mo., native marks the fifth CoSIDA academic All-American for MSU in 2017-18, matching the second most in school history.

"Sydney has done so many wonderful things for our program and the university during her career, and this is a great opportunity to recognize her accomplishments on the national stage," head coach Dave Collins said. "We are all so proud of her. Although we will miss her swimming ability next season, the legacy of excellence she has left with our program will be felt for many years to come."

Zupan holds a 4.00 grade-point average in Cell and Molecular Biology.

Marking a remarkable appearance at the league championship meet this year, Zupan garnered both the Elite 17 and Missouri Valley Conference Swimmer of the Year awards. Zupan finished the meet with three individual titles and was a member of four conference-champion relays. The MSU captain set numerous records at this season's championship and leaves as one of the most decorated swimmers for the Bears.

The CoSIDA At-Large team is selected from student-athletes from 25 different sports. The 15 members of this year's first team averaged a 3.99 GPA.
