AUSTIN, Texas -- The second day of the NCAA Women's Golf Regional here was no easier for Missouri State than the first day. The Bears shot their second consecutive 319 on Tuesday (May 8) and are in 17th of 18 teams with one round yet to play at the UT Golf Club.

MSU's 638 team total places them ahead of only East Carolina, which had to withdraw from the team competition after three of its players fell ill and couldn't continue in the tournament. Third-rated Arkansas lit up the par 72, 6341-yard layout with a 17-under-par 271 Tuesday and leads with a 555 total, 11 shots ahead of second place Texas at 566. Florida is third at 578 and then four teams -- Baylor, Virginia Tech, Oklahoma and Texas A&M -- are tied for fourth with 581 totals.

Seniors Verena Gimmy and Stine Pettersen continue to lead the way for the Bears at 154 and 158, respectively. Gimmy shot 78 Tuesday and Pettersen 79, while junior Ashley Childers also turned in a 78 to give her a 161 total. Junior Rachel Johnson has posted 81-84--165 and freshman Bridget Schulte has 92-88--180.

Wednesday's final round for the Bears will begin with their first tee time at 9:50.
