MVC Release
A pair of past Missouri State women's golf standouts have been named to the Missouri Valley Conference 25-Year Anniversary Team for its women's sports. Sally Hinton and Missy Linnens are part of the 10-person team determined by a 25-member committee consisting of two representatives from each member school and five voters from the MVC office.
Thirty-four student-athletes were nominated for women's golf and the voting panel compiled its top 10 list, of which Hinton and Linnens are members. To help celebrate the 45th anniversary of Title IX and 25 years of women's sports in the Valley, anniversary teams were named in each of the women's sports sponsored by the MVC.
Hinton, a native of Bridgnorth, Shropshire, England, was elected to the Missouri State Athletics Hall of Fame in 2016. From 2003-07, she compiled a 76.75 career scoring average, which was tops in school history until this season. She was a four-time all-conference performer and named Valley Player of the Year in 2007. Hinton also was a three-time conference scholar-athlete and was named to the MVC All-Centennial Team in 2007.
A native of Wichita, Kan., Linnens was the last Bear to earn medalist honors at the league championship, pulling that feat off in her hometown in 2006. She is a three-time all-conference honoree and three time scholar-athlete, and compiled a 77.93 scoring average from 2004-08. She capped off her career by being named MVC Player of the Year in 2008.Â
Other members of the team include: Sofie Eriiksson, Tulsa (1993-95); Katie Jean, Illinois State (2009-13); Kayla Katterhenry, Evansville (2013-17); Olivia Lansing, Drake (2006-10); Meaghan LeBlanc, Bradley (2002-06); Danielle Lemek, Bradley (2012-16); Samantha Richdale, Illinois State (2002-06); and Marissa Uradomo, Indiana State (2013-17).Â
