Final Results

A strong final round for the Missouri State men's golf team allowed the Bears to finish sixth Tuesday (Mar. 27) at the Lake Charles Invitational in Lake Charles, La. The Bears moved up a spot from seventh with their best round of the tournament, a three-under 285, to go with 288-303 on Monday to tally an 876 total in three trips around the Golden Nugget Country Club course and finish in the middle of the 11-team field.

Louisiana cruised to the team title, posting 850 compared to second-place Marquette and its 862 total. Stephen F. Austin (870) finished third, a shot ahead of Lamar (871) and three clear of Texas State (874). Then came the Bears in sixth, followed by Southern Mississippi and host McNeese State (881), Nicholls State (889), Southeastern Louisiana (898) and New Orleans (899).

Junior Adam Fisher continued his strong play for MSU, carding 70-72-71--213, three-under par, and tying for seventh just a week after winning medalist honors at the Twin Oaks Intercollegiate. Junior Jack Knoesel fired a final-round 67 to move up to 17th after shooting 73-77 Monday to finish with a 217 total. Junior lefthander Kory Franks tied for 21st with 71-75-73--219, while senior John Fuchs shot 74-79-77--230 and tied for 49th. Sophomore Lukas McCalla was 53rd with 76-81-74--231. Medalist honors went to Jack Tolson of Louisiana, who fired 67-66-68--201.

The Bears are back in action next Monday and Tuesday (Apr. 2-3) at the Red Wolves Intercollegiate in Jonesboro, Ark.
