Golf Bears Finish Up 10th in Spring Opener

Final Results

The Missouri State men's golf team finished its spring opener Monday (Feb. 26) with a 10th-place finish at the Loyola Intercollegiate in Goodyear, Ariz. The Bears shot 283 in the final round for a three-round total of 851 after posting 279-289 in Sunday's 36 holes.

College of Charleston fired 816 over 54 holes to top the 19-team field at Palm Valley Golf Club, besting runnerup SIU Edwardsville (829) by 13 strokes. Hartford was third with 831, followed by Eastern Michigan, Loyola (Md.) and Gonzaga (836), Seton Hall (840), Air Force (843), Connecticut (845) and MSU rounding out the top 10.

Junior Kory Franks led the way for the Bears, carding 69-70-70--209, seven under par, and tying for 18th place. Junior Adam Fisher tied for 22nd after shooting 69-74-67--210 with Brad Carpenter in 39th place with 69-72-73--214. Seniors Brian Rogers and John Fuchs tied for 81st and 83rd, respectively. Rogers posted 72-78-73--223 and Fuch had 76-73-75--224. 

The Bears are now idle till Mar. 19-20 when they host the Twin Oaks Intercollegiate in Springfield, Mo.
