Pearson, Howell Set Records in Day Two of Iowa Hawkeye Invitational

IOWA CITY, IOWAJosie Pearson and Libby Howell both set program records in their respective events, highlighting the Missouri State swimming and diving team's second day efforts at the Iowa Hawkeye Invitational Friday night.
 
Pearson was the lone winner among the Bears in the second day of action, setting a MSU record in the 400 IM with a time of 4:16.38. She touched the wall nearly one second ahead of the Nebraska runner-up. The swim beat her previous best recorded at the 2018 Missouri Valley Conference Championships.
 
Missouri State would see another program best performance four events later in the 200 free, as Liberty Howell finished sixth, clocking in at 1:48.30. Her time bested Dora Kiss' 1:48.38 at the 2016 MVC Championships.
 
On the men's side, Blair Bish and Artur Osvath provided the one-two punch for the Bears in the 100 breaststroke, taking second (52.34) and third (53.28) place, respectively.
 
Jake Schultz rounded out the top-five finishers for the Bears, claiming fifth in the 100 fly at the 48.16 mark.
 
Loretta Stelnicki placed within the top-ten for the second straight day, taking eighth in the 100 backstroke (56.14). Anna Miller moved up the ranks, placing ninth in the 100 fly (54.71).
 
In the team events, Schultz, Bish, Osvath, and Samuel Senn clinched second in the 200 Medley Relay (1:26.06) to open another successful night for Missouri State.
 
The Bears head to the final day of competition in the Iowa Hawkeye Invitational tomorrow, with preliminaries starting at 10 a.m. Finals will begin at 6 p.m.
