Breast Cancer Facts
SPRINGFIELD – The Missouri State University football Bears will be wearing pink decals on their helmets for this Saturday as part of the team's annual Breast Cancer Awareness initiative.
As has become customary every October, coach
Dave Steckel's Bears will help create awareness for the cause and provide a visible and colorful reminder of a disease that affects about 1 in 8 American women. In 2018, an estimated 266,120 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed in women in the U.S., along with 63,960 new cases of non-invasive (in situ) breast cancer. Likewise, about 2,550 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed in men in 2018.
To help celebrate the pink out event, Missouri State is offering a game-day ticket special for fans who wear pink to the game in support of breast cancer awareness. The game-day special will offer reserved bleacher seats for just $6 apiece and reserved bleacher-back seats for just $10 apiece.
The special cannot be combined with other offers and is good on the day of the game only at all MSU Athletics Ticket outlets. The stadium box office located on the west side of Robert W. Plaster Stadium opens at 10 a.m. on home game days.
The Bears look to improve on a 4-3 overall record Saturday when they entertain long-time rival Southern Illinois at 2 p.m. at Plaster Stadium. MSU is 3-1 at home this season and is tied for third place in the Missouri Valley Football Conference standings with a 2-2 league mark.
