Senior
Brad Carpenter fired a two-under-par 70 Monday (Oct. 22) to pace Missouri State in the first round of the Little Rock Invitational at Chenal Country Club in Little Rock, Ark. Carpenter is tied for third place and the Bears are tied for 10th in a strong 17-team field after posting 299 in the morning round.Â
Play was suspended due to darkness early Monday evening, so teams will return Tuesday morning to complete their second rounds, followed by the final round immediately afterward.
Lamar and 23rd-ranked UNLV were tied for the lead after the first round after posting 289 totals. Illinois State was a shot back in third with 290, Seattle at 292 and Eastern Kentucky rounding out the top five with 293. ULM was sixth at 294, followed by Arizona (295), Texas State (297), #19 Arkansas State (298), and the Bears and Miami (Ohio) rounding out the top 10.Â
Carpenter was two strokes off the lead held by Lamar's Sam Dunez. MSU seniors
Kory Franks and
Jack Knoesel were tied for 34th after shooting 75, while senior
Adam Fisher's 79 was tied for 79th and
Lukas McCalla was 88th after carding 85.
