COLUMBIA, Mo. -- The Missouri State women's golf team stumbled in its second round at the Johnie Imes Invitational on Tuesday (Oct. 2) and dropped from fifth to seventh place after 36 holes. After opening with a 291 Monday, the Bears posted 306 on the middle day of the tournament at Old Hawthorne Golf Club and enter Wednesday's final round in the middle of the 13-team field with a 597 total.
Freshman
Allison Bray led the way for MSU Tuesday, firing an even-par 72 after opening with 74. She's tied for 18th place overall with her 146 total, which is still a stroke behind teammate
Rachel Johnson, who's carded 70-75--145 for the two days, placing her in a tie for 11th. Freshman
Abby Cavaiani is tied for 31st with 71-78--149, while another freshman,
Faith Belmear, is 62nd with 76-81--157.
Host Missouri leads in the team race with 282-282--564, while just a shot separates Florida Gulf Coast with 570 and Fresno State at 571. Mercer is fourth with 576, followed by FIU (583), Wichita State (593) and the Bears. Northern Illinois (598), Illinois State (598) and Arkansas State (602)Â round out the top 10.
