Osvath Named CollegeSwimming National Swimmer of the Week

January 30, 2018

EVANSTON, Ill. – Winning his second national award of the season, junior All-American Artur Osvath was honored as the CollegeSwimming National Swimmer of the Week after a dominating weekend at the Shamrock Invitational, announced Tuesday by CollegeSwimming.com.

Osvath had another fantastic week in the pool thanks to two individual victories and a pair of records at the Shamrock Invitational. The junior was the lone Bear to earn an individual victory at the two-day meet. Osvath's first victory came in the 100 breast where he claimed the event with a NCAA B-standard time of 53.21 seconds. His time in the event marked a new personal best, as well as a meet and Rolfs Aquatic Center pool record.

Clinching the 200 breaststroke, Osvath was masterful in the event once again. Meeting NCAA B-standards with a time of 1:54.65, he was the only swimmer to finish the race in under two minutes. Along with his individual efforts, he helped the Missouri State 200 medley relay squad place second overall and led the 400 medley relay team to a third-place finish. After the week, Osvath leads the Mid-American conference in the 200 breast, 200 fly and 200 IM.

The Bears will return to competition on Feb. 28 for the MAC Championship at the campus of Miami (OH) in Oxford, Ohio. For all the latest information on the Missouri State swimming and diving team, visit missouristatebears.com or follow @MoStateSwim on Twitter.
