CONWAY, Ark. – The Missouri State women's tennis team collected four singles victories and one doubles win on the first day of the UCA Fall Classic on Friday.
"I am really happy with how we competed in our tiebreakers today," Missouri State women's tennis head coach
Mallory Weber said. "There was definite improvement from last week.
"We are looking more confident on the court in singles and doubles, which is where we want to be heading into conference next week."
Senior
Anelisse Torrico Moreno collected a three-set thriller 3-6, 6-2, 10-8 over Stasya Sharapova from Murray State for the Bears' first victory of the day.
Junior
Phoebe Boeschen also collected a three-set victory, 2-6, 6-1, 10-2 over Murray State's Anja Loncarevic for Missouri State.
Sophomore
Alye Darter battled back from a 4-6 first set loss to defeat Murray State's Claire Chang 6-4, 10-6 in her second singles match of the day. Fellow sophomore
Alexia Meyer also picked up a victory over her Murray State opponent Sara Bjork, 6-3, 5-7, 10-1.
In doubles action, Darter teamed up with freshman
Ellie Burger to pick up a 6-1 win over Jeanne Masson and Bjork of Murray State.
