Junior
Kory Franks led the way as the Missouri State men's golf team placed fourth Tuesday (Sept. 26) at the Derek Dolenc Invitational in Madison, Ill. The lefthander from Jefferson City, Mo., shot a stellar even-par 213 for 54 holes at Gateway National Golf Club, stringing together rounds of 72-68-73 to tie for eighth place.
MSU finished fourth of 17 in the team standings, posting 291-289-288--868, trailing only champion and host SIUEÂ (841), UT Martin (860) and Bradley (861). After the Bears, Iowa Western C.C. (872), Creighton (884), Omaha (890), Drake (892), Murray State (896) and Valparaiso (899) rounded out the top 10.
A pair of Bear juniors --
Brad Carpenter and
Jack Knoesel -- tied for 20th with 220 totals. Carpenter had 74-73-73 while Knoesel carded 70-72-78. Senior
John Fuchs posted the day's best for MSU, shooting a two-under 69 to rally for a 28th place finish and a 222 total. Junior
Adam Fisher tied for 33rd with 75-76-73--224.
The Bears are now idle till Oct. 9-10 when they travel to Kansas City for the UMKC/Bill Ross Intercollegiate.
