CLEVELAND, Ohio – After its second-place finish at the Mid-American Conference Championships, twelve swimmers represented the Missouri State men's swimming and diving team on the Academic All-MAC team, announced by the league Monday.

The 2017 team is made up of 72 student-athletes from the seven men's programs in the conference. Eastern Michigan led the conference with 17 student-athletes on the squad, while Ball State and Missouri State followed closely with 12 honorees apiece.

The Academic All-MAC honor is for student-athletes who have excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year student-athletes are unable to be selected to the All-MAC Academic Team.

Kacper Cwiek,
William Frisbie and
Christopher Heye were the five juniors to make the team.

Seniors
Uldis Tazans and
Brandon Weissman were Missouri State's two seniors to make the squad. Weismann, one of four seniors in the league to maintain a perfect GPA, led the Bears with a spotless 4.0 GPA while the rest of the honorees carried a 3.22 GPA or better.
