Osvath Earns MAC Swimmer of the Week Honors

November 02, 2017

CLEVELAND – Picking up his second weekly award this season, junior All-American Artur Osvath was named the Mid-American Conference Swimmer of the Week, announced by the league Thursday. The honor is the seventh of his career.

Osvath had a record-breaking week for the Bears, bringing in two individual victories and a relay win against the Drury Panthers. He set the tone in the opening 400 medley relay event, helping the Bears to a first-place finish in 3:51.40. He carried his momentum to the 200 IM, where he won the event by nearly four seconds (1:48.98).

Continuing the winning trend, Osvath proceeded to break the pool record in the 200 fly, touching the wall first with a time of 1:47.94. On the national scale, he ranks No. 4 in the 200 breast, No. 20 in the 200 IM, No. 21 in the 100 breast and No. 27 in the 200 fly. He leads the MAC in five events – the 100 breast, 200 breast, 100 fly, 200 fly and 200 IM – as well.

The Bears return to action at the Purdue Invitational, Nov. 16-18 at West Lafayette, Ind. For all the latest information on the Missouri State swimming and diving team, visit missouristatebears.com or follow @MoStateSwim on Twitter.
