St. LOUIS -- In celebration of 25 years of women's sports in the Missouri Valley Conference, the league announced Thursday that Missouri State's Linette White and
Lily Johnson were among the 10 athletes selected to the Valley's 25-Year Anniversary Team in volleyball.
An initiative for all women's sports in the league, 25-year team composition has been determined by a 25-person committee, including two representatives from each MVC institution and a panel of five voters from the conference office. The team composition includes years in which league teams competed under the MVC umbrella during the past 25 years (1992-2017) and does not include competition from the current season.
White was a three-time first-team all-MVC selection, the 2003 MVC Co-Player of the Year and a 2003 AVCA Third-Team All-American. She still owns Missouri State records for hitting percentage in a season (.392) and career (.352), and had more than 1,100 career kills. White's senior season in 2003, the Bears went 27-6 overall and tied for the league title with a 17-1 mark, earning an NCAA at-large berth and the school's highest ever ranking at 23rd in the AVCA Coaches Poll.
Johnson is a three-time AVCA All-American, three-time first-team all-MVC pick and two-time MVC Player of the Year.Â
The MSU senior made the team on the strength of her first three seasons as her 2017 season was not considered in the balloting, and has since become the MVC's all-time leader in kills and attacks to go with a record 15 MVC Player of the Week citations.Â
Additional team members include Bradley's Lindsay Stalzer, Illinois State's Ashley Rosch, Jill Arganbright, Kara Galer, Molly O'Brien, Bre Payton and Shannon Perry of UNI, and Wichita State's Abby Lehman.Â
For women's volleyball, a total of 47 student-athletes were nominated, and the voting panel determined a 'Top 10' from a list of 25 finalists.
