First Day Results

Senior Stine Pettersen fired an even par 72 to lead the way for the Missouri State women's golf team Sunday (Oct. 29) at the Little Rock Classic in Hot Springs Village, Ark. The Bears shot 301 in the opening round and are tied for second place, just three shots from the lead, in the 15-team field.

Pettersen, a two-time all-conference performer from Norway, recorded her best round since returning from a back injury last spring and helped put the Bears in contention in a tournament they won two years ago. She's tied for third place, while fellow senior Verena Gimmy is tied for 16th after carding a 75. Juniors Rachel Johnson and Ashley Childers each posted 77, and freshman Bridget Schulte shot 85.

After a morning frost delay at the par 72 Diamante Country Club, Sam Houston State grabbed the early lead with a 298, with the Bears and Jacksonville State tied at 301, followed by Central Arkansas (302), and Houston Baptist and UTEP (303) rounding out the top six. Utah Valley and UT Arlington (304) are tied for seventh, followed by Stephen F. Austin (305), Oral Roberts and Little Rock (306), Arkansas State (308), ULM (311), Northern Iowa (312) and UT Rio Grand Valley (323).

Tee times for Monday's second round are scheduled to begin and 9 a.m. with Tuesday's final round slated for an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. MSU begins teeing off at 9:50 Monday morning.
