SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Notable performances from Missouri State's distance swimmers and 400yd medley relay squad aided the Bears in the first day of the Shamrock Invitational at the campus of Notre Dame, Friday evening.

Through event 12, host Notre Dame leads the pack with 366 points followed by Wisconsin (338.5), Grand Canyon (244) and Missouri State (133.5).

Missouri State's distance swimmers, sophomore
Minki Kang and freshman
Antonio Thomas, led the Bears after earning two, top-10 finishes. Kang was the only Bear to break into the top-five in an individual event, finishing fifth in the 500-yard freestyle (4:29.18). Thomas recorded a time of 4:30.79 in the event to follow Kang with a seventh-place finish.

Freshman
Samuel Senn earned a top-20 finish in the 50yd free after completing the event in 21.19 seconds, less than a second short of his personal best.
Phillip Willett and
Kacper Cwiek also earned top-20 finishes in the 200yd individual medley, placing fourteenth and fifteenth respectively.

The Bears capped off the evening with a fifth-place finish in the 400yd medley relay where
Thomas Heye,
Nicholas Theunissen,
Artur Osvath and Senn combined for a time of 3:20.97.

The Bears return for session two of the Shamrock Invitational tomorrow at 9 a.m. at Rolfs Aquatic Center. Later that afternoon, the Bears will finish the regular season in session three, which is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
