
Missouri State Falls at Saint Louis in Final Preseason Match

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Missouri State women's soccer team wrapped up its final preseason exhibition match with a 4-0 setback at Saint Louis University on Saturday evening. The host Billikens scored a pair of goals in each half putting the match out of reach with late tallies in the 80th and 84th minutes.
Junior Evan Stamp got the start in net for the Bears. She made five saves while playing the entire first half. Senior Laura Ketzer recorded two saves while not allowing a goal against in 26 minutes. Freshman goalkeeper Kaitlin Maxwell and sophomore Sarah Sabo combined for the final 19 minutes.
Senior Lauren Shadel led the way for the MSU offense. She fired two shots, placing one on target. Redshirt senior Molly Brewer notched the Bears' other shot on goal.
Missouri State will begin the regular season next Friday (Aug. 19) at Arkansas State with a 4:00 p.m. tilt in Jonesboro. The Bears continue a season-opening three match swing with battles at Texas Tech (Aug. 21) and at UMKC (Aug. 24) before the home opener at Betty and Bobby Allison South Stadium on August 26 against Little Rock. The 6:00 p.m. contest versus the Trojans will be the first-ever production of The Valley on ESPN3 for the MSU women's soccer team.
