Bears, Shockers Move Series Finale to May 3

April 26, 2016

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - A high probability of rain with a mix of severe storms has caused the series finale between Missouri State and Wichita State to be moved to Tuesday, May 3. Originally scheduled for today (April 26), the two coaches agreed to move the game to the final week of the regular season, tentatively scheduled for 5:00 p.m. at Wilkins Stadium in Kansas.

The Bears (17-27, 6-12) salvaged a game in the weekend series at Northern Iowa with a 9-8 victory on Sunday. Sophomore Madison Jones drove in a career-best four runs in the win. Junior Mary Stephens drove in three on her sixth home run of the season. It was the third home run in as many games for the Bears.

Wichita State moved into first place in the MVC on the heels of a five-game winning streak. The Shockers (28-18, 14-5) took both games of the doubleheader at Killian Stadium last week and swept the Drake Bulldogs over the weekend to leap-frog to the top of the standings.

Missouri State will turn its focus to the non-conference finale scheduled for Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. against SIU Edwardsville at Killian Stadium. MSU will travel to Evansville, Ind., for a weekend series with the Purple Aces. Games are currently scheduled for Saturday and Sunday beginning at noon each day.
