CLEVELAND - Ten Missouri State student-athletes were recognized by the Mid-American Conference as the league announced the Men's Swimming and Diving Academic All-MAC Team on Friday, April 1.

MSU's Will Brand, Canaan Campbell, Kacper Cwiek, Miguel Davila, William Frisbie, Christopher Heye, Uvis Kalnins, Jack Snow, Isaac Springer and Brandon Weissman represent the Bears on the MAC Academic All-MAC Team.

The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. Freshman are also unable to be selected to the All-MAC Academic Team.

The 2016 team is made up of 69 student-athletes from the seven men's programs in the conference.

Seniors Davila, Kalnins, Snow and Springer made the Academic All-MAC Team for the third-consecutive season, with Davila and Kalnins also earning All-MAC First Team honors following the 2016 MAC Championship in March.

Weissman is the lone Bears junior to be selected to the Academic Team. A two-time honoree, Weissman is among three swimmers in the MAC to have registered a perfect 4.0 grade point average.

Making their first appearances on the Academic list are sophomores Brand, Campbell, Cwiek, Frisbie and Heye.

Cwiek and Heye had previously been recognized by the MAC for their performances at the conference championship, with both being selected to the All-MAC Second Team.
