Missouri State (23-9, 14-4 Missouri Valley Conference) will play in its 15th MVC Tournament championship game Sunday at 2 p.m. when it takes on regular-season champion UNI (22-9, 15-3).
Missouri State is seeking its 10th MVC Tournament title and first since 2006. The Lady Bears are 41-19 all-time at the event, and head coach Kellie Harper has directed her teams to a collective 27-16 record in postseason tournaments during her 12-year career.
The Lady Bears and Panthers split the regular season series with each winning on the other's home floor in close games. UNI enters the game on a 10-game win streak, with MSU handing the Panthers their most recent defeat on Feb. 5 in Cedar Falls.
Missouri State, meanwhile, has won six consecutive games by an average score of 70.0-46.7, holding opponents to 30.2 percent shooting overall and 21.9 percent from beyond the arc during that stretch.

Series History
Missouri State owns a 48-25 lead in the series with UNI, though the Panthers are 9-3 in the last 12 meetings. MSU leads 4-1 in tournament play, but UNI won the most recent matchup in the 2011 championship game.

Scouting UNI
UNI won the MVC regular season with a 15-3 record and is 22-9 after a 10-game winning streak. The Panthers have a trio of double-digit scorers in Madison Weekly (18.0), Amber Sorenson (12.9) and Jen Keitel (10.4), and have taken more than 41 percent of their total shots this season from beyond the arc. UNI averages 64.3 points per game and allows 56.9, shooting 38.7 percent overall, 31.6 percent on 3-pointers and 75.5 percent from the charity stripe.

This Season Against UNI
UNI won the season's first meeting by a 65-60 final on Jan. 10 in Springfield. The Panthers led by as many as 15 points in the second quarter, and the Lady Bears twice cut the gap to a single point in the final 90 seconds before UNI went 6-for-6 at the foul line in the last minute. Liza Fruendt led the Lady Bears with 17 points, and MSU held a 45-25 advantage on the glass.
Fruendt hit a game-tying 3-pointer with 21.4 seconds left in regulation, and Tyonna Snow scored all 10 of Missouri State's points in overtime in a 78-75 victory in Cedar Falls on Feb. 5. MSU overcame an 11-point second-quarter deficit to gain a 27-26 lead at halftime, and Snow scored all 24 of her points after intermission.

Tournament Tough
The Lady Bears own a league-best 41-19 (.683) all-time mark in the event since the initial Gateway Conference meet in 1983. Since 1991, Missouri State has played in 15 of the 26 tournament championship games and is the only school to win the title four straight years (1991-94). Missouri State will be trying for its 10th tourney title, with wins in 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1996, 2001, 2003, 2004 and 2006 to its credit.
Missouri State owns all-time records of 2-4 in the opening round, 15-6 in the quarterfinals, 15-4 in the semifinals and 9-5 in championship games. The Lady Bears are 14-11 in neutral-court games at the event.
