COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Missouri State's Lily Johnson was selected to the U.S. Collegiate National Team Europe Tour (CNT-Europe) roster on Monday, USA Volleyball announced. The junior-to-be is one of 12 players picked for the (CNT-Europe) squad after her performance at the U.S. Women's National Team Open Tryouts held last month.
Johnson's trip will take place July 6-16, with training matches against an Italian Federation Team July 7, July 8 and July 9 near Milan, Italy, before heading to Pula, Croatia, to play in the Global Challenge July 11-14.
Missouri State's first two-time All-American in volleyball, Johnson is the reigning Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year, posting 620 kills in 2015 for the second-best mark at MSU and fourth-highest total in MVC history. The outside hitter from Wildwood, Mo., became the first MSU sophomore to reach 1,000 career kills and concluded the season ranked 15th in Missouri State history with 1,115 career kills. Johnson had 20 or more kills in 17 matches, 23 kill-dig double-doubles, and completed a school-record streak of 36 consecutive matches with at least 10 kills. She ranked third nationally in kills and fourth in points in the final 2015 NCAA statistics.
