SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - With wind chills barely tipping above the freezing point, head coach Holly Hesse has announced that the Missouri State softball team's series finale against Illinois State scheduled for Sunday has been called off. No makeup date or time has been established.

Both teams earned a win in Saturday's MVC opening weekend. The Bears (11-14, 1-1) got a late home run from senior Erin Duewel to earn the split in a 3-2 game two victory. The Redbirds (9-18, 1-1) won the opening game, 8-0.

Missouri State returns to action on Friday, March 25 with a 12:00 p.m. doubleheader at Killian Stadium against Bradley. The five-game home stand concludes on Saturday with a single game at noon.
