SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Missouri State men's and women's swimming and diving team continues competition this weekend at the House of Champions Invitational in Indianapolis, Ind., where the Bears will compete against 12 other schools at the campus of IUPUI on Nov. 18-20.
The meet is split up into six sessions with sessions one and two taking place on Friday, Nov. 18, sessions three and four beginning on Saturday, Nov. 19, and capping off the meet with sessions five and six on Sunday, Nov. 20.
Sessions one, three and five are scheduled to begin at approximately 10 a.m., sessions two and four are slated for 6 p.m. and session six will begin at 5 p.m.
Missouri State will compete against Eastern Illinois, Western Illinois, Green Bay, Evansville, Indianapolis, Lewis, Bellarmine, Butler, Wabash College, Birmingham Southern, Centre College and IUPUI at the three-day meet. Teams that will be participating in diving only include Purdue, Minnesota, Miami, Kentucky and Florida State.

Bear Bites
The Bears return to the pool two weeks after competing against Iowa and Purdue in Iowa City, Iowa, on Friday, Nov. 4. At the tri-dual, 36 bears – 20 men and 16 women – recorded season-best times in the squad's efforts against the Hawkeyes and Boilermakers.
On the women's side,
Sydney Zupan,
Lauren Pavel and Sydney Allegri were the top performers at the tri-dual, each grabbing a top-five finish in their respective events. Zupan finished fourth in the 200yd back while Pavel placed fifth in the 200yd breast and Allegri grabbed fifth in the 100 back to round out the top spots for the Bears.
Freshman
Brooke Dreiling set a new personal record with a time of 10:41.96 in the 1000yd free, beating her previous record by nearly ten seconds.
The men finished the meet with 10 top-three finishes, highlighted by sophomores
Minki Kang,
Michael Mollak,
Phillip Willett and
Artur Osvath.
Kang, one of Missouri State's top distance swimmers, finished second in the men's 1000yd free and set a new career record. Kang's time of 9:14.52 beat his previous record by almost two seconds. Mollak's time of 1:40.26 in the 200yd free also set a new season record and earned him a second-place finish in the event. In the 100yd breast,
Phillip Willett was the top performer for the Bears with a second-place time of 55.53 seconds, which set another new personal season record.
Osvath finished the meet with two B-standards in the 200yd breast and 200yd fly, achieving two season-best times and a new career record in the 200yd fly. In the 200yd breast, the sophomore finished second with a time of 1:58.82 and placed first in the 200yd fly with a time of 1:47.42.
Final Details
The three-day, House of Champions Invitational begins at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 18 in Indianapolis, Ind., at the campus of IUPUI.
