CLEVELAND – For the second time this season, sophomore
Artur Osvath earned Mid-American Conference Swimmer of the Week honors thanks to his record-breaking performances at the Kansas Double Dual last weekend.Â
Osvath had a stellar weekend at the Bears Kansas Double Dual, grabbing four first-place finishes as well as two relay victories. Along with his six victories, the sophomore broke two records at Robinson Natatorium, the 100yd fly and 200yd breast, held by Kansas greats and former Olympic Champions.
The sophomore broke former Olympic Champion Ian Crocker's record in the 100yd fly with a time of 48.72 seconds, which currently ranks first in the MAC and 28
th in the nation. Later, he went on to break the record of another former Olympic Champion, Brendon Hansen, with a 1:59.56 run in the 200yd breast. Osvath's time in the 200yd breast ranks fourth in the nation as well as first in the MAC, meeting the B standard.
To go along with his two record-breaking performances, Osvath placed first in the 100yd breast (55.90) and 200yd IM (1:50.40), bringing in the most individual victories for the Bears. Along with his individual victories, Osvath was also a part of two, Bear relays that took first over the North Dakota Fighting Hawks. Â
Osvath swam the third leg of the 200yd medley relay that recorded a first-place time of 1:32.63. The Budapest, Hungary native kicked off the 200yd free relay (1:32.63) as the first leg, giving the Bears a commanding lead over the Fighting Hawks.
