EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - The Missouri State women's soccer team (4-3-1) conceded a goal with just 1:21 remaining in the second overtime to drop a heart-breaking 1-0 decision at SIU Edwardsville (3-4-2) at Korte Stadium on Friday night.
Both teams had offensive chances throughout the match under muggy and windy conditions. Missouri State goalkeeper Jessica Perry stood tall, making six saves and keeping the match scoreless until the 109th minute. Two of her best saves came late in regulation.
Freshman striker Brooke Prondzinski fired a team-high three shots in the match, forcing the SIUE goalkeeper to make difficult saves on all three.
Senior Lauren Fussell and sophomore Rachel Catrell each had a shot on goal in the match. Junior Millie Kingsbury and sophomore Brooke Zimmerman accounted for the other two shots as the Bears were out-shot 19-7.
Missouri State returns to Allison South Stadium on Sunday, September 20 with a 1:00 p.m. match versus Western Illinois. The Bears will hold a free clinic after the match for all youth grades K-8.
