FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The Missouri State men's and women's swimming and diving teams have been recognized as 2014 Fall Scholar All-America Teams by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America, the organization announced Tuesday, Feb. 24.

The Bears recorded the sixth-highest team grade-point average among all NCAA Division I men's teams with a cumulative 3.42 GPA, while the women were 59th overall at 3.37. In all, 65 men's and 132 women's teams earned the distinction.

The Fall Team Scholar All-American Award is presented to college and university swimming and diving teams, who have achieved a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher in the fall semester/quarter.

Founded in 1922, the CSCAA is the oldest professional organization of college coaches in America. The CSCAA is dedicated to serving and providing leadership for the advancement of the sport of swimming and diving at the collegiate level.

Missouri State won its eighth-straight Missouri Valley Conference Swimming and Diving Championship on Saturday, Feb. 21, on the campus of Southern Illinois University. It was the Bears' 12th title in the past 13 years in women's swimming and diving, while its active consecutive-championship streak is tied for the second longest - with the University of Virginia - currently among all Division I women's swimming and diving teams.

The Missouri State men's swimming and diving team looks to repeat as Mid-American Conference champions when the Bears head to the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio, to compete from March 4-7.
