ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Missouri State sophomore Brooke Zimmerman has been awarded Missouri Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors, the league office announced on Tuesday (Oct. 20). It is the first player of the week accolade for Zimmerman and first offensive award given to a Bear this season after earning three defensive nods in September.
Zimmerman tallied the lone goal in MSU's 1-0 home victory over Illinois State in Missouri Valley Conference action on Saturday night. The goal was her second of the season and both have been game-winners.
It was Zimmerman's fourth career game-winning goal, all coming at Betty and Bobby Allison South Stadium in Springfield. She has more game-winning goals at Allison South Stadium than any other player.
Zimmerman also hit the post in the match as she accounted for all four shot attempts by the Bears while playing all 90 minutes.
Missouri State wraps up the home slate on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. versus league frontrunner Drake. Eight Missouri State seniors will be recognized in a pre-game ceremony to kick off Senior Day. MSU concludes the regular season on Oct. 29 at Evansville.
