Hogan Named MVC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week

St. LOUIS -- Missouri State senior libero Maddy Hogan is this week's Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday (Sept. 29).

Hogan put together back-to-back 20-dig matches in road wins against Loyola and Bradley last week, averaging 5.62 digs per set to go with five aces and a perfect 34-for-34 effort on service receptions.

Friday at Loyola, Hogan scooped 22 digs and served a career-high four aces while successfully fielding all 26 serves sent her direction. Sunday, the Smithton, Ill., native set a career high for a three-set match with 23 digs while anchoring a defense that limited Bradley to -.045 hitting, the lowest for an MSU opponent in an MVC match since 2009.

The Bears (9-6, 3-1 Missouri Valley Conference) open a three-match homestand on Friday at 7 p.m. against Drake.
