Academic All-District Volleyball Teams SPRINGFIELD -- Missouri State volleyball player
Andrea Beaty has earned a spot on the Capital One Academic All-District VI Second Team, it was announced Thursday.
A senior from Pacific, Mo., Beaty carries a 3.90 cumulative grade point average while pursuing a psychology degree. The middle blocker has started 24 matches for the Bears (17-8, 10-3 Missouri Valley Conference) this season, averaging 2.00 kills and 0.84 blocks per set. Her .336 hitting percentage ranks fifth in the MVC and 10th in MSU history for a single season.
Beaty was a second-team all-MVC selection and first-team MVC Scholar-Athlete pick as a junior in 2012, and now ranks 57th among active players with 1,179 career kills after missing much of the 2013 campaign due to injury. She has 480 kills at Missouri State after transferring from Saint Louis prior to the 2012 season.
To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with legitimate athletic credentials and at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) in both undergrad and graduate work. Student-athletes must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at their current institution and must have completed at least one full academic year at that institution. Teams are selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
