Nov. 4, 2014 ST. LOUIS, Mo. - For the second time this season, junior Jessica Perry was named the Missouri Valley Conference Goalkeeper of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday (Nov. 4). Perry earned a shutout victory over UNI in the MVC Tournament quarterfinals on Sunday afternoon.
Perry returned to goal for the first time since September 12 in the 59th minute of Thursday's regular season finale at UNI and played a total of 121 minutes in net without allowing a goal against the Panthers in Iowa. She directed traffic and made one save on Sunday to record the first postseason shutout for the Bears since 2008. It was her second shutout of the season and sixth as a Bear.
Missouri State (7-9-2) will face host and top-seeded Illinois State (12-5-0) in the semifinals of the MVC Women's Soccer Championship on Friday, November 7, at 6:06 p.m. in Normal, Ill. The match can be seen on ESPN3. The winner will advance to Sunday's finals with an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament at stake.
