Live Video: ESPN3.com The Missouri State volleyball team closed out the regular season with a 19-11 overall record and a 12-6 mark in Missouri Valley Conference action to finish fourth in the league standings. The Bears now head to Cedar Falls for the MVC Volleyball Championship Nov. 27-29, and begin with fifth-seeded Southern Illinois at 5 p.m. Thursday. The winner of that match advances to play No. 1 Illinois State in the semifinals at 5 p.m. Friday, with the championship match set for 4 p.m. Saturday. The other half of the bracket includes No. 2 UNI, No. 3 Wichita State and No. 6 Indiana State.
The Opponent Southern Illinois is 16-14 and 10-8 in league play. Taylor Pippen leads the MVC in hitting percentage at .413 as one of four Salukis to average at least 2.03 kills per set. SIU hits .222 as a team and lets opponents hit .224 with averages of 12.54 kills, 1.23 aces, 13.56 digs and 2.26 blocks per set.
Championship History
Missouri State has appeared in six of the last 13 MVC Tournament finals. MSU is 25-25 in the tournament with titles coming in 1990, 1993, 2005 and 2008.
