ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Missouri State redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Addison Watson has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Male Scholar-Athlete of the Week for the first time in his career.

Watson made the save of the game in Saturday's men's soccer conference-clinching win over Evansville. Watson was able to preserve the shutout with a key save in the 81st minute against an open Mark Anthony Gonzalez. One on one, Watson cut of the Evansville striker's angle and pushed the ball away from danger. Watson recorded an MVC record 0.15 goals against average in the six conference games this season, with five Valley shutouts. Saturday was the first overtime victory of Watson's career. He holds a 3.41 cumulative grade-point average and majors in criminology.

Missouri State's regular season title is the sixth in program history, and the first time won in consecutive years. The MVC Championships are next on the schedule for MSU, with the Bears set to face the winner of Wednesday's quarterfinal match between #4 Drake and #5 Loyola. Missouri State will play in the first semifinal game on Friday, Nov. 14 at 3 p.m. CST in Peoria, Ill. The winner will play in the championship match on Sunday, Nov. 16 at 1 p.m. for the conference's automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament. All five MVC Tournament games will be streamed live on ESPN3 and the Watch ESPN app.
