Bears Host Loyola, Bradley This Week; Dig Pink Friday

Missouri State (14-7, 7-2 Missouri Valley Conference) begins round two of conference play this weekend when the Bears face Bradley (0-19, 0-9) at 7 p.m. Friday and Loyola (7-11, 3-6) at 7 p.m. Saturday.
Friday's match with Bradley will serve as the annual Dig Pink breast cancer awareness event. T-shirts will be sold with the proceeds benefiting Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks, and the lines on the court will be pink for the match.

The Opponents
Bradley is 0-19 overall and 0-9 in conference play. The Braves hit .102 as a team compared to .242 for the opposition, and average 10.72 kills, 0.74 aces, 14.45 digs and 1.46 blocks per set.
Loyola is 7-11 on the season and 3-6 in MVC matches. Sophomore outside hitter Morgan Reardon leads the MVC in kills (4.21/set) and points (4.74/set). The Ramblers hit .181 as a team and allow opponents to hit .207 while averaging 12.82 kills, 1.06 aces, 14.67 digs and 1.97 blocks per set.

The Series
MSU holds a 48-8 series edge with Bradley and has won 27 of the last 28 meetings with the Braves, the loss coming in Peoria in 2008.
Missouri State is 4-0 against Loyola, including a 3-0 win in Springfield last year.

Last Week
The Bears ran their winning streak to four consecutive matches with wins at Evansville and Southern Illinois. Friday at UE, Olivia Brand had 16 kills and hit .483 in a 3-0 win. Saturday, Lily Johnson recorded her sixth double-double of the year with 14 kills and 11 digs in a sweep of SIU.

First Meetings This Season
Missouri State won 3-2 at Loyola on Sept. 26, overcoming deficits of 13-8 and 14-12 in the fifth set for a 16-14 win. Lily Johnson led the Bears with 20 kills. On Sept. 28 at Bradley, the Bears limited the Braves to a -.045 hitting efficiency and Maddy Hogan scooped 23 digs on the way to MVC Defensive Player of the Week honors.
