SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Missouri State women's soccer team (5-7-2, 1-1-1) will travel to Des Moines, Iowa, for a conference match at Drake (6-7-2, 0-1-2) on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. to begin the second half of the Valley slate. The Bulldogs have been a perennial nemesis for the Bears, especially in Iowa, since DU joined the MVC in 2002.
"It is always tougher to go on the road," said head coach Rob Brewer. "The surface at Cownie Soccer Complex is grass, so we hope that our players can make the right adjustments to that surface. We are going up there to compete and hope to get a positive result."
Senior Molly Huber added to her team-best goal total by scoring her 11th of the season in the closing minutes of regulation in a 1-1 draw against Evansville last Saturday. The last time MSU had a player score 11 goals in a season, it was Debbie Stark in 1999.
Goalkeeper Laura Ketzer made a spectacular save in the final minute of double overtime to preserve the valuable league point against the Aces. Ketzer holds a 0.93 goals against average in league matches and earned her first career clean sheet earlier in the month versus Indiana State.
Freshman Mary Disidore has become a force to be reckoned with during MVC play. She has a league-best three assists during conference matches.
The Bears will play their home finale next Saturday (Oct. 25) at 1:00 p.m. at Allison South. The match will mark the Ramblers' first-ever trip to Springfield and will be Senior Day for MSU.
