Missouri State (9-6, 3-1 Missouri Valley Conference) returns to Hammons Student Center this weekend for a pair of league matches. The Bears host Drake (9-5, 1-2) at 7 p.m. Friday and take on UNI (8-6, 3-0) on Saturday at 7 p.m. in a clash of top-four teams in both the preseason poll and the current standings. Missouri State will also unveil an All-America banner honoring Carly Thomas prior to Saturday's match.
The Opponents
Drake is 9-5 overall and 1-2 in league play with a win against Bradley and losses to Loyola and UNI. The Bulldogs feature one of the MVC's top freshmen in Kyla Inderski, who averages 3.30 kills per set with a .232 hitting percentage. As a team, Drake hits .193 and averages 11.81 kills, 1.33 aces, 15.78 digs and 1.87 blocks per set.
UNI is 8-6 overall and 3-0 in MVC matches. The Panthers have five players averaging at least 1.90 kills per set, and hit .209 as a team compared to .200 for the opposition. UNI averages 13.66 kills, 1.19 aces, 17.75 digs and 2.05 blocks per set.
The Series
MSU is 53-9 against Drake and has won 29 of the last 30 meetings, the exception being a loss in Springfield in 2010.
The all-time series with UNI is 46-20 in favor of the Panthers. UNI has won nine of the last 10 meetings.
