St. LOUIS -- Missouri State junior middle blocker Kaitlin Jaeger was honored as this season's initial Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week Monday (Sept. 3) for her performances at the Dayton Invitational and Northern Illinois over Labor Day Weekend.

Jaeger led MSU in hitting percentage (.359), kills (2.69/set) and blocking (0.88/set) last week, never committing more than two errors in a match as the Bears went 3-1 against four 20-match winners from last season.

The Webb City, Mo., native hammered 14 kills against just one error and hit .419 as the Bears beat 22nd-ranked Dayton Saturday, and began the season Friday with 14 kills, six blocks and a .400 attack efficiency versus Northeastern. Jaeger finished with seven kills, one error and a team-high five blocks Saturday against Tulsa, and concluded the weekend with eight kills on .286 hitting and a pair of service aces in MSU's victory at Northern Illinois on Monday afternoon.

Missouri State's season-opening, eight-match road trip continues Sept. 6 and 7 at the Holly Young Invitational in Durham, N.H. The Bears will face St. John's, Brown and host New Hampshire while in the Granite State.
