SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Missouri State men's soccer team (8-3-2, 3-0-0 MVC) hosts conference opponent Central Arkansas (4-7-1, 0-1-1 MVC) on Wednesday night.

Missouri State is 3-0-0 to start Missouri Valley Conference play for the fourth time in school history (1999, 2001, 2011). The 1999 team set the school record by winning the first four conference games of the season en route to an MVC regular season and tournament championship, and an appearance in the NCAA tournament. MSU will look to match that start against UCA this week.

With Saturday night's double-overtime 1-0 victory at Evansville, Missouri State has not let in a goal in five straight games, matching the program high set in 2005, and again in 2012.

Redshirt senior goalkeeper Trevor Spangenberg's 14th career clean sheet moves him into sole possession of 4th all-time in the Missouri State record books, passing Matt Pickens. Missouri State is the NCAA Division 1 leader in goals against average and Spangenberg ranks second in the nation with his 0.425 g.a.a.

Spangenberg also lowered his career goals against average to 0.72, which is now best in Missouri State history. The MVC leader in g.a.a. and shutout percentage has made a significant impact on the field after missing all of last year due to injury.

Spangenberg was named Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his two double-overtime shutouts last week against Oral Roberts and Evansville.

Central Arkansas earned their first conference point last week after tying Bradley 1-1 in Conway. UCA opened conference season at SIU Edwardsville, dropping the game 2-1.

Central Arkansas' Wes Carson, a freshman with the Bears, scored both of the team's conference goals. Carson leads UCA and is tied for the best in the conference with seven overall goals on the season.

The game is set to kickoff at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday and will be streamed live on the web at the link above. Live stats will be available through gametracker and updates can be found on the team's twitter account.
