May 17, 2012

Missouri State softball head coach Holly Hesse continues her ascent among the ranks of women coaches as she was recently named to the Alliance of Women Coaches (The Alliance) Board of Directors. She also remains active in several women's organizations including the NCAA Women's Coaches Academy and the Springfield chapter of the Women's Intersport Network (WIN).

One of seven members of the Board of Director's, Hesse will present at The Alliance's first national event, The Huddle, in Atlanta, Ga., at the end of the month. The Alliance of Women Coaches was created to provide professional development, enhance advancement and increase the number of women coaches in all sports at all levels. Hesse says The Alliance gives her a "unique opportunity to learn from the best women's coaches across all sports."

Additionally, Hesse will speak at two separate NCAA Women's Coaches Academy events in June. She will remain in Atlanta to speak on June 5 and 7. She will then head to Denver, Colo., to lead a pair of sessions on June 14 and 15.

Hesse recently completed her 24th season at the helm of the MSU softball program. She won her 600th game in the season opener and led the team to a 25-win season, the 14th time in her coaching career the team has reached or surpassed the 25-win mark in a season.

During her tenure at Missouri State, Hesse has guided the Bears to two regular season conference titles and five NCAA Tournament appearances. Her 46 wins in the MVC Tournament are tied for the most among Valley coaches.
