Missouri State sophomore setter Carly Thomas is the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week in volleyball, the league office announced Monday (Sept. 26) afternoon.
Thomas posted double-doubles in each weekend match en route to averages of 1.43 kills, 12.00 assists and 3.57 digs. Friday, Thomas matched a career-high with seven kills, doing so on .462 hitting, while adding 37 assists and leading all players with 15 digs in MSU's sweep at Wichita State. She also had a block against the Shockers.
On Sunday, the Swansea, Ill., native had three kills, 47 assists, 10 digs and a service ace in four sets at Stephen F. Austin. For the weekend, Thomas directed the MSU offense to 14.86 kills per set.
Missouri State (10-4, 3-0 MVC) continues its current four-match road trip Friday (Sept. 30) at Bradley for a 7 p.m. match. A victory in Peoria would give 16th-year head coach Melissa Stokes an MVC-record 197th conference victory.
