Missouri State women's soccer players Shelby Stewart and Jessica Teahan were named Missouri Valley Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, the league office announced Tuesday.

Senior goalkeeper Jessica Teahan garnered her third career MVC weekly award after a huge week for the Bears. Last Tuesday at Arkansas, she shut out the Razorbacks on the road, turning in six saves on the night.
She topped that performance on Friday with a 110 minute shutout of Tulsa at Plaster Field. Teahan registered a career-high 12 saves in the match including a penalty kick save in the second overtime period.
She continued to shutdown opposing offenses when she turned aside four Oral Roberts shots on goal in Sunday's 2-0 win. In all, Teahan shut out opponents for 265 minutes this week making 22 saves.
Sophomore forward Shelby Stewart landed her first career MVC award after she scored her first and second career goals this week. Her first came on the road at Arkansas when she made a run past the Razorback defense and beat the Arkansas keeper one-on-one.
Then on Sunday, she scored the game-winner against Oral Roberts when she put in a rebound off the post. She tallied five shots and two goals in just 120 minutes of play, the second-most shots on the team this week.
The women's soccer team will wrap up its three-game home stand on Friday (Sept. 16) night. MSU will face UMKC at Plaster Field at 7:00 p.m.
