SPRINGFIELD -- The Missouri State men's soccer team dropped its second-straight home match, 2-1, after giving up two second-half goals to Tulsa on Thursday night at Plaster Field.

"I saw some positives tonight," said head coach Jon Leamy. "We got off to a fast start and weathered some of the storm. We scored a great goal to go into halftime up 1-0. We need to get stronger and deliver a result. We are going to get back to work and get ready for Memphis on Sunday."

The Bears notched the game's first goal in the the 37th minute as freshman defender James Fawke struck from 40 yards out. Tulsa goalkeeper Michael Murray cleared the ball to midfield where Fawke quickly retrieved it, zeroed in on the top right corner of the net and sailed the ball perfectly over the keeper's head for his first collegiate goal.

The Golden Hurricane came out with a little extra energy following the Bears' 1-0 halftime lead. In the 57th minute, Tulsa midfielder Omar Mata delivered a cross to defender Blaine Gonsalves in the box. Gonsalves headed the ball to the left side of the net past redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Trevor Spangenberg to tie things up, 1-1.

The momentum quickly shifted in the Golden Hurricane favor with 15 minutes remaining. Mata took advantage of an MSU turnover and netted the eventual game winner with a shot to the right corner of the net.

Following the go-ahead goal, the Bears couldn't hold onto the ball long enough to get a shot on goal. Tulsa outshot Missouri State 4-0 in the remaining minutes.

The Golden Hurricane outshot the Bears 11-8. Senior Jordan Hoffman led the team with two shots and one shot on goal.

Missouri State will now hit the road for five-consecutive matches with the next test at Memphis on Sept. 4 at 7 p.m.
