SPRINGFIELD -- Nathan Scheer and newcomer Corbin Thomas led their respective teams Sunday in Missouri State's 20-minute, running-clock scrimmage as part of the team's Twilight Tip-Off event at JQH Arena.
The fan-interactive event, held in conjunction with the Lady Bears, was well attended, and also featured a dunk contest won by Drew Wilson who defeated fellow newcomer Thomas in the finals.
Scheer led the White team to a 27-22 victory behind his eight points and three three-pointers, while Caleb Patterson scored six for the winning side. Thomas led the Maroon squad with eight points, while defending MVC Player of the Year Kyle Weems added six.
Three players -- Corey Copeland, Keith Pickens and Dorrian Williams -- sat out with various injuries, but everyone in uniform scored.
The Bears will open a three-game exhibition slate on Thursday, Oct. 27 at 8:05 p.m. against Truman State at JQH Arena. Tickets for the exhibition finale at Missouri Southern on Nov. 5, a fundraising game to support the tornado recovery efforts in Joplin, are still on sale and available through the Missouri State ticket office.
