COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- Three Missouri State divers finished the NCAA Zone D Diving Regional with respectable performances. The first day included one-meter competition for the women and three-meter for the men. In the second day of competition, the boards switched. On March 13, the competition will turn to platform diving, but Missouri State does not compete in that event.
In the first round of competition, Missouri State's senior duo of Heather Fulton and Chelsea Ray finished with 209.8 and 207.85 respectively on the one-meter boards. Fulton was 33rd in a field of 42 divers, while Ray finished 35th. For the men, junior Eric Ducourneau scored 602.65 on the three-meter board, placing 14th in the field of 24. Last season, Ducourneau placed 15th on the three-meter board competition at regionals.
In the second and final day for the Bears, Ray and Fulton finished their collegiate careers on the three-meter board. Ray turned in a score of 240.85 and Fulton scored 188.70 , finishing 26th and 40th, respectively. Ducourneau performed well again, turning in a 524.55 on the one-meter, placing 16th.
The Zone D Regional sent a total of 20 divers -- eight men and 12 women -- to the NCAA Championships, which is the most of all five zone meets. The NCAA Women's Swimming & Diving Championships will be March 18-20, while the men's meet is March 25-27.
