Missouri State women's soccer senior defender Jordan Reppell was named Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced today.
Reppell played all 180 minutes and led the Bears' defense to back-to-back shutouts over the weekend. On Friday, Missouri State defeated conference-foe Indiana State, 1-0. Her defensive leadership helped the Bears' eliminate shot opportunities on all three of the Sycamores' corners.
On Sunday, she helped the Bears shutout SIUE for the third time in as many seasons. She also scored the game-winning goal in the 80th minute off of a free kick from just outside the box. It was the first goal of her career.
On the season, Reppell has played 1,175 of the Bears 1,201 total minutes of action. That figure is second on the team to fellow defender Sarah Linsin's 1,178 minutes.
Reppell's award is the second for the Bears this season. Fellow defender Nia Williams earned MVC Defensive Player of the Week honors on September 7.
Missouri State will play the next two matches on the road, at Illinois State next Sunday (Oct. 10) and at Drake on October 17 with both matches starting at 1:00 p.m. The Bears return home on October 22 to face conference-rival Creighton at 7:00 p.m. MSU will finish out the regular season at home on October 28 at 7:00 p.m. against Evansville.
