Missouri State senior co-captain David Arkin, an offensive tackle from Wichita, Kan., has been named Missouri Valley Football Conference Offensive Lineman of the Week for his performance in the Bears' 31-28 win over No. 18 Western Illinois on Saturday at Plaster Field in Springfield.
Arkin graded out at 88 percent for the game with nine knock-downs against the Leathernecks to help the Bears secure the league's only win over a ranked foe this week. Arkin anchored an MSU offensive line that allowed just one sack in 22 pass plays and posted the team's second-highest rushing total of the season as Bears' backs carried 52 times for 351 yards (6.8) and a pair of touchdowns.
Arkin has received the league honor five times previously, including once this season on Sept. 11 for his outstanding performance against Kansas State.
The Bears (3-4, 2-2 MVFC) will host Southern Illinois this Saturday at 2 p.m. Tickets are available by calling (417) 836-7678 or on-line at www.MissouriStateTix.com.
