The Missouri State volleyball team topped Mississippi State and Stephen F. Austin Saturday inside Hammons Student Center to stretch its winning streak to four matches in a row and capture the Dr. Mary Jo Wynn Invitational championship for the 10th time in the last 11 seasons.

Cara Hackmann shared MVP honors for the Bears while
Megan Bess joined them on the all-tournament team.
Mississippi State recap The Bears tied a school record for a match of three or more sets by committing a mere five attack errors in a 25-20, 25-15, 25-17 win. Missouri State (5-2) hit .426 (45-5-94) as a team, compared to .160 for the Bulldogs (2-5), using a balanced offensive attack where no player made more than two errors.
Kelley Michnowicz narrowly missed a school record, carrying a hitting percentage near .900 late into the match before finishing at .727 with eight kills on 11 swings.
Sara Staubach also played error-free, hitting .391 (9-0-23), while Norman hit .375 (8-2-16) and Bess finished at .364 (9-1-22). The Bears also blocked 10 Bulldog attacks, while Hackmann had 11 digs to lead the defense.
Stephen F. Austin recap A sluggish first set put the Bears in a hole before a barrage of kills led by
Addie Foley midway through the second set brought MSU out of a 15-10 deficit on the way to the 19-25, 25-22, 25-14, 25-16 win. Foley notched five kills and hit .556 in the second set, while Bess added seven of her match-high 18. Bess hit .326 in the match, while Norman added 10 kills and Foley finished with eight.
Melissa Gmur had a double-double with 35 assists and 14 digs, Foley added 10 digs and Hackmann totaled 22 to lead all players.
The Bears continued to be tough at the net, stuffing 12 SFA attacks. Norman had six, Michnowicz had five and
Bethany Fuller chipped in four.
Missouri State travels to Ohio University this weekend for four matches in the Hampton Inn Invitational. The Bears open play Friday at 11 a.m. with Eastern Kentucky.
