Hackmann Named Prairie Farms/MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Week

Missouri State junior libero Cara Hackmann has been named the Prairie Farms/Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week, it was announced by the league office Wednesday.

A native of Washington, Mo., Hackmann earned MVC Defensive Player of the Week honors while leading the Bears to a five-set victory over 20th-ranked Wichita State on Sept. 25.

Hackmann averaged 6.0 digs per set, collected two assists and three service aces and was perfect in 20 service reception chances. Her 30 digs were one shy of a career-high, while her three aces matched a career-best. She has a 3.84 cumulative grade-point average in entertainment management and appeared on the MVC Scholar-Athlete First Team last season.

To qualify for Prairie Farms/Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week laurels, student-athletes must carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20, completed at least one academic year at a Valley institution and must be at least a sophomore in academic standing.  Redshirt freshmen and first-year junior college transfers are not eligible.  In addition to the academic qualifications, student-athletes will be evaluated on their athletic performance for a one-week period.
