The Missouri State men's soccer team completed their exhibition slate with a 2-0 loss at No. 21 Saint Louis tonight. The Bears end the exhibition season 1-1.
The Bears offense generated 11 shots during the match, only forcing SLU's keeper to make three saves. Kyle Windmueller led the team with four shots. Thomas Vania and Paul Paradise also had multiple shots. Missouri State received two corner kicks, as well, but was unable to convert any set pieces into goals. The physical match saw double-digit fouls on both sides.
Preseason All-MVC goalkeeper Alex Riggs played the entire 90 minutes for the Bears. He made one save.
Saint Louis opened the scoring with a goal in the eighth minute of play. The Billikens' second goal came in the 73rd minute, putting a damper on the Bears come-back chances.
Missouri State opens the regular season on Tuesday, September 1, at Tulsa. The Bears and Golden Hurricanes kick off at 7:00 p.m. at Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.
