Softball Bears Rained Out in Series Finale at Illinois State

Rain and lightning caused the cancellation of Sunday's softball series finale between Missouri State and Illinois State in Normal, Ill.  The Bears failed to score in the top of the first, and Lauren Supak retired two of the first three batters she faced in the bottom of the opening frame before playing conditions worsened forcing the game to be stopped.  The game will not be made up.

The two teams played both games of Saturday’s doubleheader with Missouri State taking game one, 3-2, in eight innings, and Illinois State winning game two, 7-2.

Coach Holly Hesse's team is 15-14 overall and 5-5 in the Missouri Valley Conference. The Bears return to action Wednesday at 4 p.m. when they host the UMKC Kangaroos in a doubleheader at Killian Softball Stadium in Springfield before resuming MVC play next Friday and Saturday at Southern Illinois.
